"Chacham adif mi'navi (the wise person is preferable to the prophet)" - Hashem is speaking to us in a way that has an advantage to how Hashem spoke previously to the prophets. Nevuah (prophecy) is the most ancient way of serving Hashem. Unbelievable strengthening of nevuah as we get closer to the coming of Moschiach. Every Jew can experience ruach haKodesh (divine inspiration) today. That which was revealed to the prophets in a vision was then made available to chochamim (the Sages) by their intellectual comprehension. Highest light descended beneath level of divine intellect into the world of divine imagination.
