Description
Nevi'im (prophets) aroused the general populace through spiritual practices of hisbodedus (secluded personal meditation) and avodah (service). The Tana'im (early Talmudic sages) and Amora'im (later Talmudic sages) focused on bringing the Oral Torah into human minds and hearts by observing halachos (Jewish laws). Even though prophecy has been taken from the Nevi'im, it has not been taken from the chachomim (sages) whose minds and hearts are so great that their Torah comes from the highest worlds. Spiritual practices of Nevi'im (prophets) revived in the form of Chassidus enabling any Jew to lift himself up from base physical life and feel a higher light of Torah. If we experience the sechel (intellect) of Torah only , then we mistakenly think that Torah is just another academic subject. Boys who study in Yerushalayim are stripped of silliness and stupidity of the USA enhancing their inner spirituality so they feel the light of Torah.
