We want to use our power of choice to choose emotional states. When the heart is open we need to put kedusha (holiness) into it. When having a desire to do teshuvah, sit and learn about teshuvah. Tzaddikim (the righteous) have special connections to the Jewish holy days. Every Jew is connected to the week's Torah portion. Connect to the holiness of a mitzvah through learning about it. The Torah teachings of the tzaddikim are holy fire. Reviewing teachings of the tzaddikim multiple times brings the holy fire into us and makes an imprint.
