Imagine being with the Kohen Gadol (High Priest) on Yom Kippur. Preparing before davening (praying) will facilitate visualizations. Expand holy thoughts through delving into them. Even thoughts of frightening experiences can be useful. Imagining holy objects, events, people, and places wakes up the emotions. Not controlling our thoughts makes our mind hefker (up for grabs) to the chaos of the world.
