Description

Many times our davening (prayers) are totally lacking kavanah (concentration). Even when we’re ready to make a serious effort, the path to hislahavus (enthusiasm) is unclear. The mistaken natural instinct is to make a physical effort but real kavanah is the soul moving the body. Physical properties can be demonstrated, but not spiritual ones. Reasons for difficulties in spiritual self-awareness: 1) Personal bias; 2) No standard definition for hislahavus; 3) No outside confirmation.
