The sugya analyzes the root of the controversy between Rav Yitzchok & the Chochamim regarding Malkos for Chayvei Krisus. There are many dinim each one of which requires a source in the Torah. The sugya develops the various derivations for each of these dinim according to the two views. One of the main subjects of the shiur is the relationship between two "mechalkim", 'gufin' and 'shemos issur'. These determine how many Chatos must the shogeg bring for multiple violations. Another important aspect of teh sugya is the principle אין עונשין מן הדין.
