Description

We will continue our analysis of the mitzva of Ner Chanuka & study the two definitions of the mitzva, is it a chovat bayit or a chovat hayachid? Based on the former definition we will study the Teshuva of the Chacham Tzvi to reconcile the apparent contradiction between two piskei dinim of the Mechaber in Shulchan Aruch. On the one hand, in Hil' Chanaka the mechaber recognizes the lighting of a Katan She'higia Le'Chinuch to supply the Bayis with a Ner, while in Hil' Megilla the Mechaber completely excludes the reading of a Katan on behalf of a Gadol. We will analyze the issue of a guest who chips in for the Ner, and the case of the 'Achsenai' who is away from his home & seeks to light his own Ner in the inn while his wife lights back at home
