Description
The Pachad Yitzchok on Chanuka calls our attention to the "darkness" (choshech) which the Yevanim brought upon our people. This expresses itself in two programs that the Yevanim implemented in two different historical periods: the translation of the Torah into Greek, and the religious persecution thru their decrees against the laws of the Torah. In the latter case, as a result of their agenda of 'shmad', the success of the Yevanim becomes tangible with the emergence of the MisYavnim. What is the relationship between their two expressions of 'choshech'. Why did the Yevanim violate the purity of the brides of Israel? How did they undermine the 'chosenness' of Israel/
