Description

We will study the verse in Parshat Balak (Bamidbar 24:20) that foretells the ultimate destruction of Amalek. This nation will not take part in the process of Tikun when, at the end of time, the nations will acknowledge Hashem and rectify their deficiencies. Why is Amalek excluded from this process? We will study the insights of R' Yona into the verse in Mishlei (27:21), "eesh lefi mehalalo". Man is made of two contradictory personality traits. On the one hand man adores and attributes significance & greatness to others; on the other hand, man tends towards 'letzanut', to downgrade the significance of others. The barometer to evaluate man is the success of man to give supremacy to his attribute of 'mehalalo' over 'letzanut'.
