Lecture given on a bus in Strasbourg, France. Rabbi Schachter discusses: (1)Rabbi David Sinzheim, author of Yad Dovid, head of Napoleon's Grand Sanhedrin. He corresponded with the Sha'ages Aryeh. Eulogized by the Chasam Sofer. (2) Rabbi Aaron Worms, a student of the Sha'ages Aryeh, then a rosh hayeshiva in Metz, later a dayan and then a rav. Rabbi Schachter disagrees with an essay by Professor Berkowitz describing the rav. He defended the minhag of eating gebrakst on Pesach as well as all German minhagim during davening in their nusach. (3) Rebi Eliezer from Metz, author of the Yereim, and student of the Rabeinu Tam. Many of his positions are quoted in the shulchan aruch. (4) The Ba'al Haitur, and his positions in halacha.
