We begin the Maharal's Ner Mitzvah, which examines the spiritual nature and implications of the Daled Malchuyot, the four stages of exile that the Jews experience over the course of history. The Maharal explains that these Four Kingdoms exist in Sefer Daniel and Chazal and shows how they are intrinsically woven into the Creation story itself. He then engages the question: If these Kingdoms challenge God and are imperfections in Creation, how can God's Creation be "imperfect"?
