In this introductory shiur to Masechet Shabbat, we will try to define the nature of Melechet HoTza'ah, as a Melacha Geruah, and some of the unique rules that apply to this melacha. In this context we will touch on the definition of Melacha on Shabbat and investigate the fundamental chakira: is Shabbat one single Issur, or 39 separate isurim?
