Description

In this shiur on the Mitzva of Kiddush on Shabbat, we will try to understand how Kiddush is related to the mitzvot of Kibbud V'Oneg. Many of the insights presented in this shiur are based on a shiur the Rav, zatza"l, delivered decades ago on the Yahrtzeit f his father, HaGaon HaRav Moshe zatza"l. The Yesod of two kiyumim in Kiddush, one the kiddush in Tefilla, the second the Kiddush on wine before the seudah, is reflective of the Rav's methodology: a single mitzva that "conceals" two distinct elements. A second reflection of the Rav's derech haLimud reflected in this shiur is the contrast between two categories of Kos shel Bracha. Definition & classification of Halachos that appear - at first glance - to be identical.
