Description

Methodology of Psak Halacha (Yeshivat Har Etzion): This shiur uses the halachic issue of drinking on Purim as a test case to examine two methodological issues. The first is the effect narrative can have on related halachic texts. The second is the role of history in determining what people did and poskim thought, and the subsequent effect that can have on thinking about halachic issues. It focuses on Ashkenaz, Sfard, and Provence in the Medieval period. This is the twentieth shiur in the series.
