Description

In the Shirat Hayam of Parshat Beshalach we find the verse: Who is like You among the mighty? Why is this verse chosen for the lead in to the Amida? Chazal place tremendous emphasis on Smichas Geula LiTefillah, attaching the Bracha of Ga'al Yisrael to the Shemona Esrei. Why is this so significant? We will address these questions and discuss the purpose of Tefillah. Is the latter simply a means to an end? Is the goal of prayer to receive the health and happiness we so long for? We will also raise the question: why is it so common in our lives, and even in the lives of Tzaddikim, that our prayers are unanswered?
