Torah is what sustains the world. It is the soul of the world. Most of the time people do not see the benefit that learning Torah or the benefit of those who learn Torah brings to the world. Therefore they disgrace and look down upon people who learn Torah. This applies to people who support Torah too. They and others think its them who are supporting the world, but in reality, the Torah is the great sustainer. Through it the world gains vitality.
