2nd shiur in Jewish Center University series, "Judaism and the Origins of Christianity." Discusses the origins in Second Temple Jewish sources of Christian and rabbinic perspectives on martyrdom. Identifies on the one hand the crucial manners in which Christian traditions move beyond their precedents, and on the other hand the meaningful ways in which the rabbinic sources remain true to and naturally develop the varied precedents in their recent past.
