Description

In the sugya in Psachim 6a, Rav opines that one who leaves his home 30 days before Pesach is exempt from the obligation to search for chametz. According to the Maharshal the reason is because he doesn't have any definite knowledge that there is chometz in his possession and the chometz is "Ayno Yaduah" and outside the violation of owning chometz. If he intends to return home durin Pesach he may encounter his chometz and violate Bal Yiraeh since the chometz is now Yaduah. The Maharsha understands the din in an entirely different way. If he's not home, the chometz is not included in Bal Yiraeh for an entirely different reason, namely because it is "nafla alav Mapoles". We will study the requirement to study the laws of the holiday in advance.
