Description

Tos' analyze the derivation of Rava, and all hinges on the relationship between two verses: the verse that enjoins us to destroy our Chametz on "the first day", and the verse that prohibits Shechitas HaPesach on the afternoon of the 14th by one who possesses Chometz. In the latter part of this shiur, we will analyze the derivation of Rebby Akiva which is based on the premise that burning Chometz would constitute a violation of Yom Tov. Tos' raise the objection: couldn't the burning be permitted under the law of Ochel Nefesh since he can use the charcoal of the burnt chometz as fuel to cook his food? We will study the various answers to Tos' question.
