Description
Man serves his Creator from both natural yearnings and love, and from fear and awe. He must experience joy in his service; man in his natural religious consciousness is a partner with God and participates in creation to subdue the earth. But if limited to this experience, religion may become secular; man needs revelation with its absolute commitment to fulfill the Divine imperative. Revelational consciousness alone, however, without the natural spontaneous longing for God, will lead to a religious experience which is withdrawn from the real, concrete world. Question: is Halachik sanctity limited to the exceptional few - to those who seek to discover the mystery of transendental existence; or is it exoteric and includes great & small alike?
