Description

In this skype shiur from E"Y to Queens we will study the various implications of the controversy surrounding the extra verse in the Torah forbidding lighting a fire on Shabbat. After all, we derive all the melachot from the Mishkan, and the fire was lit in the process of manufacturing dyes for the coloring of the curtains. According to Rebby Yosi Havara lilav yatzat, i.e. the Torah downgrades havara from the status of a melacha to that of an issur Shabbat. According to Rebby Natan havara lichalek yatzat, which leaves havara as one of the 39 melachot. We will study various nafka minot: havara vis-a-vis the positive Esah of Tishbot; the issue of Hatra'ah; the possibility of toldot of havara; and the nature of the din of Chiluk melachot.
