Description

David HaMelech mandates, "know the God of your Father". How can man possibly know God? What is the method? Why do we begin the Amida with "Avot"? Rashi expains that we are required to praise the Avot? But why? Isn't our obligation in the first part of the Shmoneh Esrei to praise HaShem, not man?? In this shiur we will study the insights of The Dubna Magid in his Ohel Yaakov, a presentation which weaves together verses in Tanach with Medrashim & statements of Chazal. The end result is a new understanding of "Ze Keili VeAnvehu" - the obligation to glorify God - and the fundamental principle requiring man to imitate God. The thesis of the Magid will generate a new obligation in our preparation for prayer.
