Description

The owner of an eved who is only half an eved is forced to free his eved to permit the eved to marry a Bat Yisrael and fulfill the mitzvah of procreation. Yet this act of freeing the eved is a violation of a negative command. Thus the rule of Eseh Doche Lo taaseh applies. Tos' raise a number of problems that arise regarding the application of this rule to the case of half an eved. This shiur will serve as an introduction to the study of theis Tosw.
