      There is an interesting approach by Rav Wozner from Bnei Brak in his SHUT  

        שבט הלוי חלק ג'  ס' ס"א  ו צ"ז

      regarding       הולך כדרקו לפי תומו

      His approach was quoted in TECHUMIN, and also appeared  in a HAREDI journal           אור ישראל ב'  ז-ח  תשנ"ג   under his name.
