Fifth topic in a series, looks at Chasam Sofer's response to Reform. Begins with a biography and discussion of his influences, and includes his teshuvah on the attempt to repeal kitniyos and the beginning of a discussion of his teshuvah regarding the attempt to close synagogues during the week, change the liturgy, introduce non-Jewish musicians during Shabbat davening and pray in German.

      <p>The "Yosif Ometz" The Chatam Sofer refers to is not the one authored by the "Chid"a". It is by one of Franfort's dayanim, originaly published in Frankfort in 1523. It is basically&nbsp;covers tefilos and minhagim, with emphasis on the mihagim of the Frankfort kehilla. He describes at great length the expulsion and resettlement.</p>
