Description
This shiur explains Rebbe Nachman’s teaching that the avodah of Rosh Hashanah is Tikkun HaRosh — repairing the mind from the original mistake of “ana emloch,” thinking that I am in control, and returning to the truth of HaMelech, that Hashem alone is King. The special koach of going to the tzadik on Rosh Hashanah is the meeting of three “heads”: the tzadik, who is the rosh of Klal Yisrael; Rosh Hashanah, the rosh of the year; and the mind of the Jew who comes to be repaired. The shiur then develops Rebbe Nachman’s avodah of fixing the five senses: seeing Hashem’s hashgachah in everything, hearing Hashem through tefillah and the shofar, smelling with refined Yiras Shamayim, tasting how beloved our mitzvos are to Hashem, and feeling Hashem’s open hand pulling us back in teshuvah. Through the tzadik, tefillah, and the gathering of Jews together in emunah, Rosh Hashanah becomes the time when our senses, our thoughts, and our whole way of experiencing the world are brought back under the malchus of Hashem
