Description

Yonah is so greatly pained that he calls out to Hashem asking to die. This is not an isolated example as we find Moshe, Eliyahu and perhaps even Yirmiyahu praying in a similar way. How are we to understand this? This essay will give a short survey of Talmudic sources in the area of praying for a person's death and then delve into Yonah specifically in order to come up with answer to this question.
