The גר is ubiquitous in the תורה, chiefly in the law codes, but also in narrative. Sometime he is just a "Ger", but other times, the "Ger who resides among you". He seems to be bound by some laws - such as not eating blood; yet he is consistently "not of the community". We try, by perusing the many mentions of the גר in the Torah (and Yehoshua) to come to a definition.
