Clarification from the shiur: Rav Elyashiv notes that the pasuk of בארץ אויביהם לא מאסתים... refers to the days of the Yevanim. From what I said in the shiur one could have understood that this was Rav Elyashiv's chiddush. In fact, this is a Gemara in Megilah (11a). However, the broader point that Rav Elyashiv associates the celebration of chanukah with Hashem being with us in the darkness of galus holds true.
