Description
This shiur discusses examples in Parshas Vayeishev and the Chanukah story where the middah of chutzpah brought about positive results. For example, Tamar in the parsha, and Yehudis, in the Chanukah story, both acted with piety despite their unconventional strategies. The shiur also discusses the Halachos related to women lighting menorah and reciting Hallel on Chanukah. The shiur also discusses the machlokes between the Rambam and the Ramban about whether or not it was appropriate for the Chashmonai'im to appoint a king from Shevet Levi at the end of the Chanukah story. The common theme throughout the shiur is that there is a place for "holy chutzpah" according to the Torah.
