Description

What was Yaakov communicating by telling Esav he has oxes and donkeys? We learned from the Lubavitcher Rebbe that Yaakov had stayed a stranger to things of this world, thus he elevated he material possessions. We learned from the Shem Mishmuel that Yaakov had overcome the evil attributes of Esav and Yishmael. From Rebbe Nosson we learned that Yaakov treasured the pachim ketanim because one who works hard for something values it. Additionally, ones physical possessions have holy sparks to elevate. We ended with a beautiful Torah from Reb Meir of Apta - Esav was shocked by a holy man with such extensive engagement in physicality and materialism. We concluded with a Torah from the Divrei Chaim who taught that Esav was not holy and refined enough to be the financial backer of the projects of Yaakov avinu and Klal Yisrael.
