This introductory series explores the fundamentals of kashrut in Israel, designed for those familiar with kosher standards abroad. We’ll define key terms such as Rabbanut, Mehadrin, Badatz, Teudat Kashrut, and Ishur Kashrut, and explain how they function within Israel’s unique halachic landscape. The shiur will also address where chumra meets minhag, and how halachic practice varies across different kehilos. Whether you're visiting, making aliyah, or just curious, this series will provide the tools to understand and navigate the Israeli kashrut system with clarity and confidence. This series of shiurim is part of a new English shiur series given by Rabbi Chaim Kanterovitz at Nachlat Asher in Carmey HaNadiv, a new community in Israel.
