מַתָּן בַּסֵּתֶר יִכְפֶּה אָף וְשֹׁחַד בַּחֵק חֵמָה עַזָּה: This morning (12/20/21) we began a new pasuk. Like most pesukim which LOOK simple, this one turned out to be difficult, even to read and translate. The problem we encountered was the pasuk's generality, which leant it to many possible readings. We weren't even sure if the pasuk was endorsing this behavior, warning against it, or remaining neutral! We read the Metzudas David's commentary in the last minute of shiur, but I have a feeling we'll see a variety of approaches when we learn through the other meforshim tomorrow (בג"ה). https://rabbischneeweiss.substack.com/
