Description

When Shabbat is Erev Rosh Chodesh Elul, we have a quandry as to which Haftorah to read: the CUSTOM to read the 3rd in the series of 7 Haftorahs of comfort read at this time of the year, or the law from the TALMUD to read the Haftorah called "Machar-Chodesh" usually read on a Shabbat before Rosh Chodesh. Turns out that the MAJORITY opt for the former [custom] over the latter [law]. Why? Perhaps because...we are far from the content of the latter?
