(כא) יְרָא אֶת י"י בְּנִי וָמֶלֶךְ עִם שׁוֹנִים אַל תִּתְעָרָב. (כב) כִּי פִתְאֹם יָקוּם אֵידָם וּפִיד שְׁנֵיהֶם מִי יוֹדֵעַ. Synopsis: This morning (5/15/23), in our morning Mishlei shiur, we began learning the final two pesukim in this section. Every time I see this pasuk, I'm bothered by the juxtaposition of the injunction to fear Hashem with the injunction to fear a human king. To my mind, the litmus test of our interpretation of these pesukim is whether or not we can find a satisfactory answer to that major question. Today we developed a nice idea based on Metzudas David.
