אַל תִּתְחַר בַּמְּרֵעִים אַל תְּקַנֵּא בָּרְשָׁעִים: כִּי לֹא תִהְיֶה אַחֲרִית לָרָע נֵר רְשָׁעִים יִדְעָךְ: This morning (12/10/20 at YBT) we decided to take a break from our ordinary Mishlei and take up the pesukim about Chanukah. Obviously there are no pesukim which are ACTUALLY about Chanukah, but there are three pesukim which utilize the metaphor of a candle. Our plan is to learn through all of them, starting with the last one. We began our analysis today, were stumped by what seems like a "cliche" Mishlei idea with a the perplexing mashal of the candle tacked on at the end. Towards the end we read through Rabbeinu Yonah's commentary, which seems fruitful, but we won't get a chance to explore it in-depth until tomorrow. https://rabbischneeweiss.substack.com/
