Whereas the special Maftir this week refers to Tum'ah in the technical, halakhic sense, the Haftarah addresses the spiritual ways in which the Jewish People have defiled the land, which occurred not simply through contact with human remains, but through their moral and spiritual corruption. What is the remedy for this spiritual impurity?
