The presentation of the procedure for offering קרבנות has an odd sequence - before even preparing the altar, the blood of the offering is to be collected, brought and sprinkled around that selfsame altar. We explore the unusual - and, given our historic record of קרבנות (e.g. the עקידה), surprising - primacy of - and priority accorded to - the דם of a קרבן.
