Anger is one of the most problematic character traits, of which the Rambam writes that this is one of the rare cases where it's good to go to an extreme in overcoming our temper. Anger brings many problems in life and spirituality, and the more we analyze and think about it, the more we will want to control it, and eventually succeed.
