Rashi tells us that for everything Avraham did for the malachim in person Hashem rewarded Am Yisrael Himself, and for everything Avraham did with a messenger, Hashem rewarded Am Yisrael through an intermediary. Why is Avraham being judged by this one act of chessed and not his whole lifetime of chessed? Rav Yoseph Salant explains in the Be'er Yoseph.
