Correction to story about R' Soloveitchik and R' M. Feinstein. R' Dr. Dovid Slavin Ph.D. thesis: "Successful Innovation to Preserve Tradition," is a prime source for history of Daf Yomi. Munkatch opposed D.Y. Ger supported D.Y., as did Chafetz Chaim. Moshe Mendelssohn. Zionism post WWI. Initial meetings to create Agudath Israel. Interaction of R' Meir Shapiro and Agudah. Examples of techniques of methodic Torah study that were precursors of and similar to D.Y. How D.Y. was successfully launched. Stories about R' Gustman. Gerrer Rebbe and D.Y. Daf Yomi created unity. Reasons for opposition: opposition to innovations of any kind, including D.Y. & most people cannot do Daf Yomi properly. Resulting increase in printing of volumes of the Talmud.
