This shiur explores the history of tefillah, starting from just after the establishment of Shemoneh Esrei by the Men of the Great Assembly (Anshei Knesset Hagedolah) to the Destruction of the Second Temple. We discuss questions such as whether the text of the Shemoneh Esrei recited during Temple times is different than the one utilized now, and address how the people of the Second Temple era could have davened for seeming anachronisms such as the return of Temple service.
