Description

Rabbi Pruzansky's new series for 5783 will examine how the Jewish community in medieval times dealt with challenges of "modernity." Part One analyzes how Gutenberg's printing press with movable type changed the world and its particular effect on Jews - including the dissemination of Torah, the resurgence of Jew hatred, the various halachic questions that were engendered, the lasting influence of printer's mistakes, and the protection the printing press afforded to exiled Jews. And what are the lessons for today? This series is generously sponsored by Becky and Avi Katz, l'iluy nishmat Yonah ben Harav Aryeh Leib a"h.
