It is very hard for us to mourn on Tisha B'av, to connect to something that we never experienced, and therefore dont really miss. The same is true of our children- as children in general are wrapped up with their own personal lives and issues. Therefore, says Rav Soloveitchik, mourning for the Bet Hamikdash needs to be taught.
