Description

The Zohar indicates that Pinchas has a connection to the final redemption. How so? The Rebbe explains that Pinchas and Eliyahu (who Chazal say are the same individual) engaged in zealotry. While their zealotry was laudable, they had to engage in extra Ahavas Yisroel to balance out those zealous behaviors. The Rebbe then notes the deep association between the Baal Shem Tov and Eliyahu HaNavi, and explains that the Baal Shem Tov and his successors successively bring Moshiach closer by engaging radical love for other Jews. The Rebbe encourages all to follow this path, and turn the zealous impulse inward toward managing oneself. Thereby, says the Rebbe we can manifest the time of Moshiach.
