When you subscribe to an rss feed, the rss reader on your computer automatically downloads links to the latest shiurim in that subscription, which you can then click on to download those shiurim. If you use Internet Explorer 7 or above, clicking on the RSS link will automatically subscribe you to the built in RSS reader in IE7, which can be access by clicking on the gold star on the upper left hand of the browser. If you are using Firefox, you can also subscribe to RSS feeds directly by clicking on the RSS icon in the url bar, which will prompt you to subscribe to a feed that will be accessible in your bookmarks section. If you are using a different browser, you will need to download an RSS news reader. When you click on the rss button next to any speaker or series you want to subscribe to, you will get a url which you can enter into your rss reader. Please follow the newsreader instructions to add the feed to your subscriptions.
When you subscribe to a podcast, the shiurim in that subscription get automatically downloaded to your computer when they are uploaded. For instance, if you are subscribed to the podcasted of a particular speaker, whenever a new shiur is added, it will automatically be downloaded to your computer. To subscribe, click on the podcast label next to any speaker or series to get the podcast url. If you use iTunes, click on the advanced menu, and then Subscribe to Podcast. Copy the podcast url from YUTorah and paste it into the prompt box, hit enter, and you will be automatically subscribed. If you do not use iTunes, you'll need to use a "podcatcher" - which is software that allows you to have the same kind of subscription as described in the iTunes section above. Follow your podcatcher's instructions for adding our feed to your subscriptions.
