Description

When examining the text of the Parsha and Chazal, it is clear that for Yitzhak the death of his mother Sarah and the bonding with his wife Rivka are deeply interrelated. What in the nature of this connection? What is the significance of his transition from the relationship with his mother to the relationship with his wife? We look to the cycle of the Jewish year and the transition from Tu B'Av to Yom Kippur through the critical turning point of Rosh Hashanah to open up the issues. We walk away with a powerful understanding of the transition from dependency to choice in our relationships and within the cycle of every single year. (Part of HaMidrasha at QC, OU-JLIC's Torah learning program for women at Queens College.)
