Transmission of the Oral Law & who are the the בעלי המסורה? We'll present the insight of Rav Moshe Soloveichik za"l who was my Rebby's father and my Father's Rebby. Reb Moshe based his insight on the intro of the Rambam to his magnum opus, the Yad HaChazaka. There was a profound change in the transmission of the Torah that took place 40 generations after Moshe Rabenu at the time the Talmud was committed to writing by Ravina & Rav Ashi. The latter giants are described (Bava Metzia 86a) as סוף הוראה. A Halachik principle or decision called הוראה has a special status & cannot be questioned or debated. The period of הוראה terminated once the oral Torah was no longer transmitted orally but rather thru the text of the Talmud. Korach's rebellion.
