This shiur begins a series of four presentations on the development of Halacha. We will begin with the two Torat give at Har Sinai. Why the oral Torah? When was the oral Torah committed to writing, and why? Why controversy in Halacha & how do we know which side in the debate speaks truth? What does אלו ואלו mean? What is הלכה למשה מסיני and how did it validate the lineage of King David? Why did R' Yehuda HaNasi compose the Mishan? How is the final Halacha determined? Is it based on the rule "majority wins"?
