In this Hashkafa shiur for Shmini Atzeres we seek the key to understanding the nature of this day. What is the unique Simcha of שמיני עצרת & how do we understand the integration of Simchas HaTorah and Shmini Atzeres? This embellishments of the words of the Gaon are collected in an essay by Rav Shapiro in his Sefer חזון למועד on the Moadim. Our main motifs are the singularity of the People and of the Land.
